Leadway Academy is located at New Nyanya by double pole, opposite Salem Church in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa state, it is situated in a serene multi ethnic community made up of business men and women, retired and serving military and Para - military personnel etc.
The school was established in June 2013 and academy work started on the 9th of September, 2013 in 2013/2014 academic session with 34 pupils and students from play class, pre –nursery, nursery and primary classes and 18 staff in 3 bungalows fenced building with 16 classrooms and 3 offices.
What makes us unique?
The uniqueness of the school is in its mission and vision which are raising God fearing intellectually sound and productive leaders of tomorrow and to provide abroad balanced and challenging curriculum relevant and responsive to individual and societal needs respectively, a neat and serene learning environment, adequate teaching and learning materials, as well as qualified teaching and non-teaching staff. Likewise social events and extra curricula activities which cut across cartoon, colour, career, toy, market and environmental awareness day which allow our children to experience much more than a standard classroom environment .
The maiden meeting of Parent Teacher Association (PTA) was held on the 5th of July, 2014 and subsequently once in every session. The school has observed four Speech and Prize Giving ceremony since its inception and 2 inter house sports starting from 2016/2017 session. We have embarked on series of excursions to places like Wonderland, Airport, zoo, bank etc.
Its success story is not oblivion as this is evident in the structure and achievement; it has a 2 storey building with 15 classrooms and 18 toilets, and a bungalow with 7 rooms and toilets. The school has a school bus, an ICT centre with 11 computers and 2 3 in one photocopiers, an activity room and 1 science laboratory. Today, we have crèche, pre – nursery, nursery, primary, junior secondary and senior secondary classes with a total number of 320 pupils and students and 44 teaching and non-teaching staff.
We won in these inter- school competitions the school attended; French competition with Ambassador school New Nyanya on 4th February, 2016, Mathematics competition with Basic Standard Montessori School, New Karu on 2nd March, 2017 and a mathematics competition with Bill Clinton Secondary School on 16th June. 2017. Other competitions we attended are Cowbell in 2016 and National mathematics competition 2017.
